Privacy Policy for SASYA

Overview

SASYA is a plant identification app designed with your privacy as the top priority. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data—spoiler: we don't collect much, and everything stays on your device.

Key Privacy Features

What Data We Collect

Camera Images (Not Stored)

When you use SASYA to identify plants:

• Camera frames are processed by the AI model on your phone
• Frames are NOT saved, uploaded, or cached
• Frames are discarded immediately after processing
• You must grant camera permission in your device settings to use this feature

Plant Scan History (Local Storage)

SASYA stores the following on your device to build your plant collection:

• Plant identification results (species name, confidence score)
• Scan timestamps and location metadata (if you enabled location)
• Thumbnail images of scanned plants (stored locally only)
• Your notes and tags for each plant

This data is only stored on your device using encrypted SQLite database. It is never transmitted to our servers or shared with third parties.

Game & Progression Data (Local Storage)

If you engage with SASYA's gamification features:

• XP points and level progression
• Badges and achievements earned
• Daily/weekly/seasonal quest progress
• Streaks and challenges completed

All stored locally in your encrypted database.

Device Information (Optional Crash Reports)

To help us fix bugs, the app may collect (only if you opt-in):

• App version and crash logs
• Device type and OS version
• Anonymized error messages

This information is not automatically sent. You must explicitly opt-in, and can disable it anytime in Settings.

How We Use Your Data

Your plant collection: Used only to build your personal herbarium and show stats.

Crash reports (if enabled): Help us fix bugs and improve stability.

Device info (if shared): Helps us understand compatibility issues across phones.

We never sell, share, or monetize your data. Ever.

Data Security

Local Storage Encryption

Your plant collection is encrypted on your device using SQLCipher, the industry-standard encryption library for mobile apps. Even if someone gains physical access to your phone, they cannot read your data without the encryption key.

No Cloud Backup

SASYA does not automatically back up your data to cloud services. Your data is entirely under your control. If you want to back up your collection, you can export it manually from the Settings menu.

Third-Party Libraries

SASYA uses the following libraries, none of which access your personal data:

• Ultralytics YOLOv8 — Plant detection model (runs locally)
• TensorFlow Lite — Plant classification model (runs locally)
• Flutter Framework — UI framework (privacy-neutral)
• SQLCipher — Database encryption (local only)

These libraries do not collect data, track users, or communicate with external servers.

Your Privacy Rights

You have full control over your data:

• View your data: All your plant records are visible in the app
• Export your data: Download your plant collection as JSON
• Delete your data: Clear all app data from Settings → Clear Data
• Revoke permissions: Disable camera access anytime in device settings
• Uninstall: Removes the app and all associated data

Children's Privacy

SASYA is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not require account creation, login, or any personal information beyond what's needed for optional crash reporting (which is opt-in).

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last Updated" date. Continued use of SASYA after changes means you accept the new policy.
